Different Skin Types Regimens

As mentioned in the previous post, there are five different skin types. They are normal, oily, dry, combination, and sensitive. Now that you have identified your skin type, let’s find out how to properly take care of the skin. There are many different regimens but one can never go wrong with cleanser, toner and moisturizer. However, each skin type requires a different kind of care.

Normal skin type needs cleaners that are sulfate-free and toners to avoid ingredients like SD alcohol 40, denatured alcohol, ethanol isopropyl alcohol. Get a SPF moisturizer that is light so it will hydrate and protect the skin without clogging the pores. (Make sure to generously apply on the face and neck because that’s where the sunlight will also hit and this applies to all skin types.)

Oily skin can be more likely to have blemishes because if not washed properly and as often, the bacteria will build up on the face. Use a sulfate-free gel or cleanser that won’t dry out the face either. Look for an alcohol-free toner that has ingredients like sodium PCA, geranium, and witch hazel. These ingredients will help to hold water to the skin, cuts oil, and have an astringent effect without the drying effects of alcohol. Moisturizers must be light and oil-free with ingredients like sodium PCA and glycerin. Because it is hard to find a SPF moisturizer for oily skin, look for an sunscreen that have zinc oxide to use when outside.. It will give the skin a matte finish

Dry skin needs a no-foam, no-lather, super-mild cleansing lotion. The same type of toner and moisturizer can be used as the normal skin type. Once a week, a at-home peel can gently exfoliate the dead skin buildup.

Combination skin can use the same type of cleanser and toner as oily skin but may switch to cleansing lotion if the skin is too dry. A light weight moisturizer will work better than an oil-free.

Sensitive skin requires a gentle, sulfate-free cleansing lotion. It will get rid of the makeup and any impurities without irritating the skin. An alcohol-free toner, scent-free moisturizer , and zinc oxide SPF are necessary for the delicate skin.Avoid synthetic fragrances, alcohol and synthetic dyes. Look for ingredients like white tea extract, green tea, chamomile and bisabolol that gives calming, anti-inflammatory effects.
